Description of the Head Gardener Job Offer near Dreux, France

Our client, owner of several estates located near Dreux (Eure et Loir), is currently looking for a Head Gardener (M/F) to be responsible for the upkeep and improvement of the green spaces on these various estates, as well as supervising a team of 5 gardeners already on site.

The position is a full-time permanent contract to be filled as soon as possible.

Vacancy duties and responsibilities

  • Supervision of staff (5 gardeners) and daily briefing
  • Distribution of tasks between team members
  • Monitoring general maintenance work and its completion
  • Ensuring compliance with safety regulations (wearing uniforms and PPE)
  • Maintaining the gardens, terraces and infrastructure of the various estates
  • Managing and maintaining orchards, vegetable gardens and tree nurseries
  • Planning and monitoring forestry work
  • Management of automatic and manual irrigation systems
  • Collaboration with subcontractors to draw up estimates and cost forecasts
  • Supervising teams in the use of plant protection products and ensuring compliance with treatment protocols
  • Ensuring that the equipment provided is used and maintained correctly
  • Manage and organise schedules according to requirements
  • Reporting to the employer

Profile requirement

  • M / F
  • Minimum 5 years experience in the same role
  • Good knowledge of local biodiversity
  • Knowledge of driving agricultural machinery
  • A high degree of flexibility and organisational skills
  • Experience in team management
  • Thoroughness and commitment
  • Flexibility and autonomy
  • Fluent in French
  • Driving licence required
