Full time Grounds Keeper / Head Gardener in Toronto, Canada
A downtown Toronto estate is seeking a full-time Grounds Keeper/Gardener.
This is an opportunity to work in a passionately maintained garden that is a haven to anyone who loves gardens.
The Grounds Keeper/Gardener will also ensure that the grounds, including patios, decks, and are kept well-tended at all times in all seasons.
The successful candidate will manage all inventories relevant to the garden, keep to a set monthly schedule and manage all expenditures relating to maintaining the garden.
Extensive horticultural experience is required as is a minimum or 5 years working in perennial gardens. An in-depth knowledge of plant materials, plant and tree diseases, pruning strategies, soil conditions, and watering needs will be required to succeed in this role.

Vacancy duties and responsibilities
- The candidate for this position will manage extensive perennial beds, a ravine restoration and a large lawn.
- He/she will manage numerous professionals, such as arborists, irrigation teams, lawn specialists and snow removal services who also service the garden and property.
- The candidate will also maintain manage all trades and services for the exterior of the home.
- He/she will work closely with the principle who is a passionate gardener.
Profile requirement
- The applicant should have a strong work ethic, good English communication skills, and the ability to anticipate needs and manage time effectively.
- Additionally, the applicant must always have a professional personal presentation and maintain the privacy and security of the property at all times.
- The applicant must possess a valid, clean Ontario driver’s licence (class G) and must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
- Preference will be given to candidates who have horticultural training.
