An art collection manager organises, exhibits and helps to develop a client’s private art collection, as well as offering support and advice on its security. They are expected to have an extensive, in-depth knowledge of the industry and of different art forms, so as to offer useful opinions and judgements on buying and selling artworks.
An art collection manager is responsible for overseeing the security systems and transport of artworks. They are also charged with appraising them, making quotes and managing insurance contracts, or any other administrative necessities.
The art collection manager may also be required to conduct public relations on behalf of the employer, coordinate loans and exhibitions, liaise with galleries and museums. They must also oversee and manage any necessary repair or renovation budgets, contracts and recruitment.

What responsibilities does an art collection manager have ?
- Offering advice related to the art industry and private collection
- Maintaining and protecting delicate artworks in the collection
- Maintaining and managing exhibition spaces, organising loans and exhibitions
- Identifying artworks in need of specific renovation or conservation measures
- Creating presentation booklets for each artwork
- Remaining up-to-date with the art industry and the development of new talent
- Managing all administrative duties relating to the collection
- Ensuring the client has full access to the collection at all times
- Maintaining good communications with the client
- Acting as liaison between various parties contributing to the safety and protection of the selection (security team, suppliers, cleaners, renovators etc.)
- Acting as liaison between various parties contributing to the exhibition and study of elements of the collection (galleries, museums, universities etc.)
- Managing transport of the collection
All our art collection manager are required to :
- Hold clean criminal records in both their country of employment and country of origin
- Present all certificates and qualifications from training centres and/or schools they attended
- Successfully pass two interview stages
- Provide at least three positive references from previous employers
- Complete professional dossiers containing: CV, cover letter, proof of identity (photocopy or scan), proof of address, proof of the right to work in the country of employment (if applicable), driving license and pay slips from previous professional placements. Candidates should be aware that other documentation may also be required.
