Art Manager Job


​HNW Client living in Johannesburg, South Africa, is looking for an experienced Art Collection Manager to manage a private collection of modern art.

Requirements
  • Experience working for private clients in a similar position 
  • Certificates and qualifications from training centres or schools of art would be a plus
  • Extensive knowledge of art history
  • Excellent knowledge of art and the art market
  • Fluent English
  • Understanding and respecting the client’s taste and preferences
  • Trustworthy person
  • Compliance with the conditions of the non-disclosure of confidential information
  • High level of responsibility
  • Available
  • Flexible

Duties and responsibilities
  • Managing and upkeep of the collection
  • Providing information to the client about works, artists, galleries…
  • Liaising with various auction houses
  • Purchasing of artworks or art pieces and negotiating with various art galleries and artist’s studios
  • Keeping the collection in good condition (maintenance of all the artworks, liaising with art restorers for the necessary maintenance works)
  • Creating, managing and monitoring private art exhibitions
  • Managing all administrative duties related to the collection
  • Providing security and storage of works
