Travelling Bodyguard Recruitment and Placement Agency

What is a travelling bodyguard ?

Travelling security officers or bodyguards are responsible for the safety and protection of high-profile or at risk clients (this may include celebrities, political figures, members of UHNW or royal families and many more) during important events and celebrations.

The travelling bodyguard, or security officer, must not only ensure the client's safety from harassment, violence and other unlawful actions in public, but also in private.  Depending on the preferences and situation of the client, they may be a required presence at all times, permanently available on call and constantly securing the employer's environment.

This role may require working within a team or individually.  It may also be necessary for bodyguards or security officers to be fully trained and licensed to carry weapons.

Travelling Bodyguard duties generally include:

  • Planning routes and itineraries in the interests of maintaining client security
  • Conducting thorough location checks
  • Conducting thorough checks on individuals coming into contact with the client
  • Escorting and protecting the client at all times

Both Morgan & Mallet International and our clients take their safety, and that of their families, very seriously and demand that our bodyguards do the same.  Only the very best, most dedicated and competent candidates will be considered, as our clients must have absolute confidence and trust that their personal security is being protected.

What are the responsibilities of a Travelling Bodyguard ?

Evaluation of threats

A bodyguard’s primary responsibility is to evaluate potential threats. They are charged with ensuring that the client avoids putting themselves and their families in danger, as much as possible.  This requires extensive planning and knowledge of the employer's movements.  All journeys should be studied and locations thoroughly checked.  Bodyguards must, therefore, be able to confidently and competently plan and present a secure itinerary after evaluating potential risks along the route.

Escorting

A bodyguard is expected accompany the client wherever he or she goes, continually surveying the area and locating potential threats. When working in a team, they must also remain in close contact, sharing information that may help evaluate the risk-level of any situation (such as suspicious activity, loitering, security breaches etc.).  A bodyguard should avoid leaving the client for any reason, effective communication with other members of the security team may help eliminate potential threats before the client comes into proximity or contact with it.

Bodyguards are also expected to drive their clients in urgent situations.  They must have advanced driving skills and experience to ensure a quick, safe exit from threatening situations.

Protection

A bodyguard must be able to protect their client in any situation.  They must, therefore, be physically fit and capable of defending the client against physical attacks. Increasing numbers of security professionals are opting for martial art skills as effective techniques to eliminate risks quickly and effectively, without causing excessive damage.  While this is not an essential requirement, it may be advisable for candidates seeking to increase their chances.

They should also be ready to write up regular reports documenting unusual or suspect behaviour, including suspect equipment, non-authorised entries and individuals, loitering and more. They must have extensive knowledge of local laws, regulations, and any court, legal or political proceedings relevant to the client.

All our travelling bodyguards and security officers are required to:

  • Hold clean criminal records in both their country of employment and country of origin
  • Present all certificates and qualifications from training centres and/or schools they attended
  • Successfully pass two interview stages
  • Provide at least three positive references from previous employers
  • Complete professional dossiers containing: CV, cover letter, proof of identity (photocopy or scan), proof of address, proof of the right to work in the country of employment (if applicable), driving license and pay slips from previous professional placements.  Candidates should be aware that other documentation may also be required.

Morgan & Mallet International places and recruits travelling bodyguards and security officers for temporary, seasonal, or permanent contracts. Our recruitment consultants are always available to answer your questions.
